Indigo results declared

There was intense competition in this fiercely fought battle at Indigo this year. There was very little separating the winners from the ones who just missed. In the end, the team that kept its cool (in its ads) made it. Participating colleges include NITIE, Medicaps, IITK, IBS-Hyd, Welingkar, VGSOM, IIMB, SIBM-B, MDI-G, PSG, MANAGE and IIML.

The ads were evaluated on the criterias of: Novelty, Emotional appeal, Rational appeal, Execution and presentation, Relevance to product, Credibility and Backgroud Music.

The ads were judged by an eminent panel of distinguished experts. Congratulations to the winners as announced below:

First Place:

Abhijeet Jyotishi, Punit Kumar, Tushar Karande(National Institute of Agriculture Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad)

Second place:

L. Ashwin, Harish, Harsha Gunda (PSG IM)

Special mention for teams from Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research and the team from IIT Kanpur. You people just missed out by a whisker. Please keep up your good work.

Select an industry of your choice and two scrips from the same industry, one from US (Listed in NYSE or NASDAQ) and the other from India (Listed in BSE or NSE). Analyze the past performance, future expectations and use a valuation technique to arrive at a value. Based on your analysis, recommend to the investor a stock to buy.

This is a fundamental research analysis. No technical analysis is required. The winners will be selected based on the depth of analysis,the valuation technique and the originality of the content.

Indigo - The marketing/ad making contest

Indigo aims to bring out the creative beast in you. The teams are to create a newspaper ad and a TV ad for a product that is 'different' from those in everyday life. The teams have to keep in mind the customers' preferences, the societal acceptance and other factors as deemed appropriate. Teams are encouraged to be as creative as they can without crossing over into vulgarity.

The teams have to come up with 2 advertisements on any ONE of the products listed below:

1. Skin darkening cream for the Indian market
2. Television without audio

The first one will be a newspaper advertisement and the second one will be a television commercial.

What we do not intend to achieve is one more business idea!! This event transcends into the future and gives a platform to budding entrepreneurs to carve out innovative ways, by which prevalent business processes can be tweaked to minimize negative impact on the environment. The call of the hour is to devise B plans which propose methods to reduce wastes associated with a given process as well as new avenues for recycling mechanisms. Arco Baleno - The HR event

Any HR personnel's life or an employee's life is a mix of twists, turns and surprises just as a rainbow with a mix of colours. Life is "Not a bed of roses" for everyone of us.

Arco Baleno HR event aims at testing the empathising, analysing skills of the participants and also applying of certain HR concepts to solve the issues faced in Human talent retention. In the preliminary round, a scenario would be given to the participants and they have to come up with a narration citing illustrations wherever required. The teams shall also state their assumptions explicitly and justify their views wherever necessary. Samanvay 2010 - Serious Fun

The Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras proudly presents its annual B-School fest, Samanvay 2010. Celebrating synergy, that connects all living creatures and the Samanvay in the universe since its evolution from big bang, is core to our B-feast. But Samanvay is about something else too, it’s about having fun seriously. Fun is an integral part of DoMS culture. We believe in having fun while doing serious things and that’s the modus operandi at DoMS. What could be the better way than to celebrate this spirit with plethora of events where there is something for everyone!

This year, Samanvay will be organized from the 29th to 31st January 2010. As always, it promises action packed events that challenges the intellect of the participants. There are events from all spheres of management ranging from HR to Consulting.
Theme for the year is "colours" signifying the varied hues to management. Management in all its perspectives and background represents the vibrancy of coordination just like the colours of a rainbow combine to product light which powers our vision.
